BONDING WITH METALLIC MATERIALS

Metallic bonding refers to the art of fusing materials through metallic bonds at a molecular level and is regarded as the supreme discipline among bonding technologies. Discover FHR as your expert for metallic bonding, where precision and durability go hand-in-hand.

Our bonding service – The solution for your demanding projects.

How It All Works

Metallic Bonding for your Projects

Depending on the target composite's thermal and mechanical stability requirements, various low-melting-point metals and alloys are used as solder materials.

FHR primarily uses pure indium as a solder material (Ts= 156 °C). Our proprietary bonding process ensures the required high electrical and thermal conductivity and a secure and firm connection between the sputtering target and the backplate/cooling backplate. It also protects the target material from unwanted diffusion processes of the solder into the target material and thus prevents contamination of the target material.

Special properties of metallic bonding

  1. Good to excellent electrical conductivity

  2. Excellent heat conduction

  3. Ductility of the solder absorbs mechanical stresses

  4. Suitable for all sputtering processes

LOOKING FOR A SPUTTER TARGET?

We develop and manufacture sputtering targets up to 4000 mm target length as required – both in large series and as individual items.

Our Bonding Process at a Glance

Epoxy Bonding

In this process, the materials are bonded using epoxy resin. Also possible at room temperature.

Elastomer Bonding

During the bonding process at room temperature, the materials are joined using an elastomer.

Nano Bonding

A nano-reactive film is used to join the materials together at room temperature to form a target composite.
